Dear Prospective Pre-K Parent,

Oklahoma state law allows a Pre-K class to consist of 11-20 students with
a certified Pre-K teacher and full time aide. Cashion has
implemented 2 half day classrooms, rather than 1 full day. The school day
will be the same times as our Kindergarten classroom. Morning classes begin
at 8:25 and end at 11:05. Afternoon classes start at 12:35 and end at 3:15.

Pre-K, although a wonderful supplemental program to Kindergarten, is not
state mandated for all children to attend. It is, rather, an opportunity to
incorporate and build on readiness for a school setting. In order to
successfully participate, a child must be developmentally ready. The
following criteria will be used to help determine students for the
next school year.

1. Birthdate (Children turning 4 by March 31 is preferred)
2. Developmental Screening Evaluation and testing observations
3. Date of office contact to be put on interest list
5. Resident of school district

Parents will be notified as soon as possible after the school receives all of
the pertinent information. Because our purpose is to build a successful
learning environment for each child, there will be ongoing observation and
evaluation of developmental readiness, even after school begins. If at any
time it is observed that a child has not reached the point developmentally or
socially where he/she is able to function positively in this pre-academic
environment, then parents will be counseled with concerning continued
participation in the program. The last thing desired educationally is for the
child to have a negative feeling for school. The fact that a child has not
matured to the stage where the skills necessary to function positively in a
school setting are present usually means additional time is needed to develop
before being placed in a structured educational environment. We want to set
your child up for success and look forward to working with you to insure this
outcome. If you have any questions, please call the elementary office at
433-2614. Your signature below indicates that you have read and understand the
guidelines set forth for participation in our Pre-K classroom. Please
keep one copy of these guidelines for your records.
